John C. Drury turned 13 just days before enlisting with the 20th Indiana Volunteer Regiment on July 22, 1861. Drury claimed he had enlisted as a musician, though I have found no special designation as such in Drury’s 1900 Invalid Pension Deposition, transcribed by me below.
